2014 PG UT Manila Stake Mission Plan

Our Vision: We will achieve real growth in the Pleasant Grove Utah Manila Stake by inviting all to come unto Christ through conversion, retention, and activation.

Our Goals: The Lord requires our faith to assist Him in hastening the work of salvation.  Therefore, we bind ourselves as stake and ward leaders to do the following as we exercise our faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Find and prepare one hundred (100) convert baptisms within the stake in 2014
  • Prepare, invite, and lovingly and persistently assist six hundred (600) members of our stake to receive saving ordinances, including being ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood, being endowed or sealed, or through regularly partaking of the Sacrament in 2014.
  • Assist the full-time missionaries in teaching at least thirty (30) lessons each week within our stake.
  • Have two missionary companionships assigned to serve full-time in our stake in 2014.
Our Plan:

To find and prepare one hundred converts for baptism in 2014, we will prayerfully:

  • Invite each family in our stake to develop a family mission plan.
  • Invite each family to pray each day for missionary opportunities.
  • Assign each ward mission leader to coordinate the efforts of the ward council to help families develop and fulfill their family mission plan.
  • Invite all stake members to ask our Father in Heaven to bring souls He has prepared to receive the gospel into our stake boundaries so that we can invite them to "come and see."
  • Encourage each ward council to set specific conversion goals and plans for 2014 under the direction of the bishop.  Plans should be built on loving invitations.
  • Invite non-members to serve with us in our neighborhoods and to join us in activities.
  • Develop and implement plans to help non-members participate in family history work.
To invite, prepare, and assist six hundred members to receive saving ordinances in 2014, we will prayerfully:

  • Strive as home and visiting teachers to visit every family, every month, and prayerfully invite them to come unto Christ.
  • Encourage each ward council to set specific retention and activation goals for 2014 under the direction of the bishop.  Plans should be built on loving invitations.
  • Assign bishop's counselors to oversee activation and retention efforts in each ward. counseling with the ward council regarding how to invite less-active brothers and sisters to come unto Christ.
  • As a ward council, determine how to invite less-active members to serve in the ward and in other assignments.
  • Provide opportunities for less-active members to do family history work.
  • Under the bishopric's direction, the ward council identifies prospective elders to meet with the bishop and stake president to receive an invitation to be ordained and endowed.
To assist our full-time missionaries in teaching at least thirty lessons each week in 2014, we will:

  • Invite each ward council to set a specific goal for how many lessons, whether with a non-member or less-active member, they will prepare for the ward mission leader, the full-time missionaries, and ward missionaries to teach each week.
  • Encourage each ward mission leader to meet with the full-time missionaries each week, prepared to share personal and ward mission plans, activities, and invitations leading to lessons scheduled.
To have tow missionary companionships assigned to serve full-time in our stake in 2014, we will prayerfully:

  • Identify and call a strong full-time missionary couple to serve a full-time mission within our stake no later than February 2014.
  • Provide the full-time missionaries with at least 30 teaching opportunities each week in our stake.

Gospel principles that sustain our efforts

To strengthen our personal conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ, we will:
  • Strive for sacred experiences each day through personal and family study, and developing the habit of daily, meaningful prayer as individuals and families.
  • Recognize miracles and feeling/expressing gratitude for blessings.  Discuss these experiences in our families and record them in our journals.
  • Increase our worthiness and capacity to receive all that our Father in Heaven would give us.
  • Commit to regular, consistent temple worship and service.
To align keys for missionary work (finding and preparing) held within the stake and wards with the keys for baptizing and confirming converts held within the Utah Provo mission, we will:
  • Improve our relationship with the full-time missionaries (Preach My Gospel, 217)
  • Support ward councils in their responsibilities to find and prepare families and individuals to receive the gospel.
  • Build trust with mission leaders and missionaries through communication and openness.
  • Seek to be a blessing to both ward and full-time missionaries.
To be persuasive gospel learners and teachers, we will:
  • Teach the Doctrine of Christ
  • Be diligent learners
  • Learn and emphasize teaching methods from Preach My Gospel and Teaching, No Greater Call
  • Teach with simplicity and power
  • Testify early and often
To organize ourselves, we will:
  • Improve our ability to set and keep inspired goals
  • Keep our efforts and expectations simple
  • Focus on people as we set goals and make plans to strengthen relationships
  • Embrace our accountability to God, priesthood leaders, missionaries, and one another
