Ward Mission Plan - Introduce

As an extension of our ongoing emphasis to use Preach My Gospel as a central component in your ward missionary work, we ask that you review the chart from the Utah Provo mission and adapt it to your ward as we suggest below:

  • Meet in council as a bishopric to discuss your focus families, which should be drawn from the following members:
    • Less-active families
    • Part-member families
    • Families with a prospective elder in the home
    • Any other struggling ward families that you feel inspired to focus on
  • Prayerfully select at least five individuals and/or families from your list that you will discuss with ward leaders in the next upcoming ward council meeting.
  • Meet with your ward council and discuss the five families that you have felt inspired to focus on.  Assign ward leaders to assist the ward mission leader and ward missionaries in using Preach My Gospel to teach your focus families.
  • Assign your ward mission leader to discuss these families each week in ward missionary correlation meeting and in ward PEC meeting, as well as in ward council meeting each month.
  • Also determine with the ward council what your focus will be with each individual or family.  For example:
    • Helping a father to receive the Melchizedek priesthood.
    • Extending an invitation for the family to be taught from Preach My Gospel by ward or full-time missionaries, appropriate to there family situation.
    • Helping a less-active member to regularly attend sacrament meeting and to accept a calling in the ward.
    • Meeting in an interview or in a home with a husband and wife to discuss receiving temple blessings, including an invitation to participate in a temple preparation class.
    • Inviting a non-member to begin taking the missionary lessons in the home of a member family.
    • Any other commitments that you feel impressed to invite them to make.
  • Report to the stake president each time you meeting in your PPI on the progress of those you are working with.
  • Call upon your ward high council representative to assist you in fulfilling any or all of these assignments.
  • Don;t give up.
We are confident that as you take the lead in overseeing this emphasis, great blessings will flow into the lives of all involved.  The Lord has placed these brothers and sisters in your card.  He is ready and willing to provide inspiration and converting power to you as you call upon Him for assistance.  He has called you to succeed.  Success will be measured by changed hearts and lives.  Remember "that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass."  (Alma 37.6)
